Accessibility Statement

Voluntary statement · prepared 16 October 2026 · reviewed at least once a year

National Company for Industrial Equipment Marketing NCIEM UG (haftungsbeschränkt) wants everyone to be able to find, compare and order test and measurement instruments on nciem.de, whatever their abilities or the technology they use. This statement explains how accessible the shop is today, what we are improving and how to reach us if something does not work for you.

A voluntary commitment. NCIEM is a micro-enterprise (fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover of at most €2 million). Under § 3 (3) of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) micro-enterprises providing services are exempt from the Act’s accessibility requirements for services, and no supervisory authority is responsible for this statement.

We publish it anyway, because an accessible shop is better for all our customers. It follows the structure of a statutory accessibility statement so that it is easy to compare, but it creates no legal obligations beyond those we already have by law.

1. Standard we work to

We aim to meet the Level AA success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and the European standard EN 301 549, the same benchmarks the BFSG uses for businesses that are bound by it. The four WCAG principles guide our work:

  • Perceivable: text alternatives for images, sufficient colour contrast, and content that also works when enlarged.
  • Operable: all functions usable with a keyboard, with enough time to complete tasks such as checkout.
  • Understandable: clear German and English, consistent navigation and helpful error messages in forms.
  • Robust: standards-compliant code that works with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

2. Current status

nciem.de is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We last assessed the shop on 16 October 2026, using a self-assessment of the public pages.

What already works:

  • The shop adapts to phones, tablets and desktop screens.
  • Pages are available in German and English.
  • Product categories, brands and search give several ways to find a product.
  • Support is available by phone, e-mail, contact form and live chat.
  • The online withdrawal form works without a captcha, with the keyboard and with screen readers.

3. Known limitations

  • Some German pages still contain English labels or machine-translated wording, which screen readers may read out with the wrong language.
  • Not all product images and brand logos have meaningful text alternatives yet.
  • Some carousels and banners cannot be paused, and keyboard focus is not always clearly visible.
  • Some form fields and error messages in registration and checkout are not yet fully linked to assistive technologies.
  • Live chat and embedded maps are provided by third parties and may not be fully accessible.
  • Some price information may not be read out completely by screen readers.

4. What we are improving

  • Correct German wording and language tags on all pages.
  • Text alternatives for all product images and logos, and hiding purely decorative images from screen readers.
  • Visible keyboard focus, a logical focus order and no focus traps in menus, dialogs and the cookie banner.
  • Full keyboard operation of all interactive elements, including carousels, the cart and checkout.
  • Accessible form labels and error messages throughout registration, checkout and the withdrawal form.
  • Better zoom behaviour up to 200% without loss of content.

5. Ordering without barriers

If you cannot use part of the shop because of one of these barriers, contact us. We will help you place your order by phone or e-mail at the same prices and conditions as in the shop, and we will send you the order confirmation, invoice and any withdrawal information in a format that works for you.

6. Feedback and contact

If you meet a barrier on nciem.de or have a suggestion, please tell us. We aim to reply within 5 working days. Because no authority supervises this voluntary statement, our support team is your point of contact; every report is reviewed by a person and feeds into the improvements listed above.

This statement was prepared on 16 October 2026 on the basis of a self-assessment and will be reviewed at least once a year or when the shop changes significantly. It is published voluntarily; NCIEM is not subject to the service requirements of the BFSG as a micro-enterprise, and there is no complaint or enforcement procedure with an authority for this statement.
